The Methodist Men group at Saint George Methodist Church includes all the men of the congregation. This group meets on the second Thursday of every month at 7:30 AM for a time of fellowship over breakfast, followed by a devotion. The Methodist Men are actively involved in several important ministries, including leading the Ramp Mission, where they build and install ramps for community members in need. In addition, they take charge of maintaining the outdoor decorations for both Christmas and Easter, ensuring that the church grounds reflect the joy and significance of these special seasons. All men of the church are invited to join this group and take part in its meaningful work and fellowship.
The Saint George Methodist Women, or SGMW, is composed of all the women in the congregation and represents a unified combination of the church’s three Circles: Joyful Hearts, Ennis Sandifer, and Foundation of Faith. This group plays a vital role in the church's mission and community efforts. They oversee the Mission Meals, ensuring that meals are prepared and delivered to those in need within the community, especially the sick, elderly, and shut-ins.
One of their largest initiatives is the Tea Room Fundraiser, held every May. This annual event is a cherished tradition in the church and the community, featuring a delightful tea service with homemade treats, tea, and fellowship. The Tea Room is not only a time for the church and community to come together, but it also serves a greater purpose—raising funds to support both local and global missions. All proceeds from the Tea Room are dedicated to outreach programs that assist those in need, whether nearby or around the world. The SGMW work diligently to make this event a success each year, making it a significant contributor to the church’s outreach efforts.
In addition to their work with the Tea Room and Mission Meals, the SGMW also lead various church dinners throughout the year, providing meals for special church events and gatherings. They are also responsible for decorating the Sanctuary and Parler Hall for each season, ensuring the church reflects the beauty and spirit of the liturgical calendar. The SGMW are committed to serving God through acts of service, fellowship, and mission work.
